About Me

Growing up near Lake Huron, there wasn’t a tonne going on as far as music/concerts; a “scene” as it were. People around those parts tend to look at you sideways or with a healthy dose of apprehension when you mention you’re a musician.  London, Ontario was where the closest real venues were, and that was an hour's drive away from where I was raised. By some strange coincidence, and a series of events that can only be deemed somewhat fateful, I stumbled upon opportunities to play in a band when I was 15, and then at a local church when I was 16 and I’ve been hooked on drumset playing ever since. What was once just learning other peoples songs turned into writing my own parts with a band, eventually touring all across Canada and the United States, and when that band's time had come to an end after a near 10 year run, I enrolled in university as a psych major and music minor. To say I made the most of the practice times I was awarded as a minor would be an understatement. I immersed myself in bebop jazz drumming and listened like an addict to recordings from that era and gave the instrument everything I had. After that, I returned to my roots playing loud, guitar based music but this time with more musicality and skill as my chops on the instrument continued to improve. Multiple years later, still writing and recording with bands I play in, doing recording sessions where I am playing for the song and vibe, and still having that almost childlike fascination with the instrument. To say it’s been my life’s work and passion would be selling what this instrument means to me short.
