Lessons that deliver results

Get a hold of me through email or text, we book the lesson time/day at my jam hall, and we’ll meet and go from there.

I teach all levels. Whether you’re just starting out or really want to get into the nitty gritty of stuff regarding technique, compositions, linear playing, creative flow, polyrhythms, etc. I cover it all.

I focus on whatever the student wants to focus on. If it’s pop-rock stuff, we go into that world. If they want to talk about soloing over 32 bars in a jazz form, we go there. If it’s black metal blast beats, we put on our black t-shirts and go into that realm. And maybe headbang a little.

The concepts and philosophies I teach will work for both kinds of drums. Rhythm, groove and feel is universal across both.

No. But practice IS encouraged regularly, so having a kit at home or wherever you practice/jam is definitely an advantage. That being said, I’ve seen some people make amazing progress just coming to hang with me on a weekly basis with no drum kit at home.

This depends on what the students' goals are. Oftentimes what I find is students have a song in mind, but can’t quite keep up or can’t figure out a part. This is where technique informs the musicality; you have to put in some time learning/practicing things you can’t do at first so the music or song really shines through.

Again, figuring out what their goals are and what they’re into really goes a long way informing my approach. No two people have the same music taste, or play the same, so I often base my lessons around the students' weaknesses for maximum results. This is a common practice among world class musicians, athletes, even chess players. Focusing on what you CAN’T do gives some pretty amazing results.

Of course!!! Life is too short to not at least try something at least once or twice. By the end of most of my first-timer lessons, I more often than not have the person playing some basic beats to some of the world's biggest tunes. You give me an hour, I’ll prove to you that you can groove.

For anyone under 18: ½ hour. Over 18: 1 hour. Unless the student chooses otherwise. ½ hour is not enough time for older students to really dial in and have fun. 1 hour is simply too long for younger players, unless they are very committed.

I always recommend once per week, as I feel that regimented, regular practice and accountability is important. That being said: some of my students prefer every other week, some prefer every 10 days, and I’ve had great success with a hard working student who came in once a month (this is the exception, not the rule.)

I require 48 hours notice for rescheduling, just as a safeguard. I am pretty lenient with rescheduling, but if you haven’t made up a cancelled lesson after a 4 week period, deposits or money given will not be returned.
